Firewall-security-review-image1

Firewalls have been the first line of defence in network security for over 25 years. They establish a barrier between secured and controlled internal networks that can be trusted and untrusted outside networks, such as the Internet.

In the growing Internet and Digital Economy, firewall has continued to serve as their go-to security appliance. As the threats constantly evolve and increase in number, there are more devices connected to networks than ever. A firewall must be able to keep up with the latest threats, while maintaining high performance, even when all controls are turned on. Traditionally, a firewall was put at the perimeter to determine which traffic to let into the network and which to keep out. Today, it’s recommended to have a firewall at the core of your network as well, as threats do slip in and spread.

What is a Firewall Review?

Firewall Security Review (FSR) is an in-depth assessment of the security and performance of your stateful firewall or next-generation firewall. A FSR includes a review of system performance metrics, management plane configuration and the security of the running rule set and compares these with industry best practice and vendor hardening guides. The customer is provided with a written report covering the findings and recommendations in order of priority.

The Voyager Approach

Voyager offers a comprehensive Firewall Security Review service to overhaul your stateful or next-generation appliances and improve border security. We use years of security experience aligned with industry best practice frameworks to harden the management plane of your device and undertake a full review and optimisation of your rule base.

Phishing-simulation-news-2

Phishing attacks are the practise of sending fraudulent communications that appear to come from a reputable source. It is usually done through email. The goal is to steal sensitive data like credit card and login information, or to install malware on the victim’s machine. Phishing is a common type of cyber-attack that everyone should learn about in order to protect themselves.

What is Phishing Simulation?

A Phishing Simulator allows IT teams to send safe, pretend phishing emails to staff and track those who clicked or entered sensitive information or credentials. Over time this helps educate staff and makes phishing in your organisation pointless.

The Voyager Approach

Voyager offers phishing simulation activities to assess end user threat response and to educate on organisation targeted phishing attacks. Awareness training is best achieved through explanation and demonstration. Phishing simulation helps achieve this by targeting your employees or specific functions with highly credible email phishing campaigns with the aim of raising awareness of the risks and improving knowledge of what to do when a suspicious email arrives. The Voyager Phishing Simulation service helps educate your employees and raise their phishing awareness whilst also enabling you to measure employee susceptibility to social engineering attacks.

news-inner-image-security-posture

The world of cybercrime is an ever growing and evolving industry worth billions. Along with this evolution, new vocabulary is developing in unison. A new addition is the concept of Security Posture.

What is Security Posture?

The security posture of an organisation refers to its overall security strength across multiple areas of the IT estate. Traditionally, security solutions have been fragmented with a large volume of organisations believing that a secure ‘network’ makes for good security posture, this is not true. To truly improve security posture and minimise your overall cyber risk, organisations of today must take a holistic approach by reviewing security across multiple areas of the organisation.

The Voyager Approach

Voyager has developed its own technology focused framework to assess the posture of your organisation. Our framework is an amalgamation of the key areas from NCSC’s ‘10 Steps to Cyber Security’ and the 2018 Cyber Essentials blue print and focusses on 8 key areas of your organisation’s IT to provide a truly holistic approach.

We take into consideration bare metal network and security devices, wireless infrastructure, cloud services, web and email protections, remote working technologies and policies, end user policy & control, and more.

Voyager partners with Converse360 to deliver AI powered digital automation to enhance its contact centre solutions for the Social Housing Sector

Gartner predicts that 85% of all customer interactions will be handled without a human agent by 2020 – to meet this exciting new opportunity Voyager has partnered with Converse360, market leaders in digital automation for customer services, to deliver unique social housing IT solutions.

Providing a digital automation platform allows tenants to converse, using their favourite application or device at a time that is convenient for them, to gain answers to their questions whether it be a payment query or a maintenance request. Furthermore customer service agents are afforded more time to focus on the more complex and time-consuming issues that often arise with new tenants and tenancy arrangements.

Voyager and Enghouse help NCH keep Tenants in the Picture

About Nottingham City Homes

Nottingham City Homes is an arms’ length management organisation (ALMO) who look after around 27,000 homes on behalf of Nottingham City Council.  NCH’s vision is to create homes and places where people want to live and this year they won the title of Landlord of the Year 2018 from the UK Housing Awards which is a testament to their commitment to tenant involvement and putting customers at the heart of everything they do.

Project Overview

NCH offer a wide range of services to its local community and handles over 400,000 calls through its contact centre per year. With their current system reaching end of life it was imperative for NCH to find a new contact centre solution that would provide continuity of service but also offer flexibility as new channels of communication were added.

Catherine Elliott, Head of Customer Experience, NCH commented: “It was important for us to find a system that would allow us to grow and develop. At the moment 90% of our interactions are telephone based but we want to drive uptake of other interaction methods over time, so we needed to ensure that the chosen platform offered a future migration path.”

Choosing a new Platform

Governed by strict procurement policies, NCH went out to tender and chose a leading unified communications provider, who in turn worked with managed service and unified communications provider, Voyager Networks to deliver the Enghouse Interactive Communications Center (EICC). NCH had no pre-conceptions on social housing IT solutions so went in with an open mind.

“The process gave us the opportunity to benchmark products and suppliers against each other and it soon became clear that the combination of a leading CCS supplier as primary contractor, Voyager Networks as solution provider and the Enghouse Interactive Communications Center as the flagship contact centre solution was the right choice,” Added Elliott.

Putting the System in

One of the key priorities for NCH when it came to installing the social housing IT solution is that it had to be carried out with minimal downtime. Thanks to the expertise of the Voyager team and the intuitive nature of EICC, the system was only down for 17 minutes in total and was being actively used within a day of installation.

Over the summer months Voyager helped a number of schools to upgrade their networks and communications prior to the start of the new academic year. In many instances a significant amount of work needed to be completed in a very short period of time – managing such projects, whether it be a complete system upgrade or a new installation is critical to any successful deployment. This is an area where Voyager excels as witnessed by the comments below from one of the academy’s that Voyager upgraded during August:

“I just wanted to pass on my thanks to Voyager for the way that Bernie has project managed our CUCM and Enghouse upgrades. She provided a first rate service and did everything she could to continually push the project forward. Her friendly and professional demeanour was evident throughout and she became “the frictionless glue” that kept all of the relevant stakeholders working together. In my view the success of the final project delivery was in no small part directly attributable to Bernie and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Voyager for allocating her to this project, it was a genuine pleasure to work with her”.

Voyager Networks New HQ

Following a period of rapid growth both in new customer acquisition and support personnel over the past 12 months, Voyager Networks are delighted to annouce that we have moved to a new headquarters to deliver IT services near Basingstoke.

Increased risk of security threats

Aging Network Infrastructure and the Increased risk of Security Threats

A recent analysis by Cisco of 115,000 devices on the internet discovered that 92% of the devices were running software with known vulnerabilities. Additionally 31% of the devices were “end-of-sale” and 8% were “end-of-life”. As the threat landscape becomes more sophisticated all network devices – routing and switching, wired and wireless – must be secure and require regular reassessments.

Enghouse Interactive and Voyager Networks Partnership Deal Set to Deliver Change in Mid-market Contact Centre Space

Reseller to use Enghouse Interactive Communications Center to Drive Sales of Unified Communications Solutions

In a move that will significantly extend the footprint of its flagship solutions, the Enghouse Interactive Communications Center (EICC) and the Quality Management Suite (QMS) in the mid-market contact centre market, Enghouse Interactive has signed Voyager Networks, a leading provider of managed IT services and bespoke IT solutions, as a silver partner on its EMEA channel programme.

Peter Howells, Director, Voyager Networks, says: “We were looking for feature rich next-generation applications that would strengthen our standing in the mid-market unified communications space and complement our core Cisco solutions competency. Enghouse, with their EICC contact centre capability and QMS call recording and quality monitoring solutions set, fit the bill perfectly.”

Research Finds ShoreTel Has Lowest 1st Year Costs

Analysis undertaken by independent research-adversity and strategic-consulting firm Nemertes has shown that ShoreTel ranks the lowest in first-year telephony costs (for both up-front and ongoing investments) for all-sized company deployments at $669 per endpoint, compared against the median of $935 across all vendors in the study.

Nemertes specialises in analysing and quantifying the business value of emerging technologies. Through their Annual Benchmark study they conduct in-depth interviews with more than 200 IT service leaders comprising a wide range of verticals and sizes.

In this particular study, the report for which is entitled “Minimizing Costs, Maximizing Value of IP Telephony”, Nemertes spoke with nearly 200 organisations to gather real-world cost data for seven leading IP telephony and unified communications vendors. Seven vendors received enough responses for Nemertes to analyse their solutions as part of the study – these were Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft, Mitel, NEC and ShoreTel.

The organisations surveyed were primarily in North America and responses were used to develop a first-year TCO analysis of on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployments. The research findings show that ShoreTel ranks the lowest in first-year telephony costs (for both up-front and ongoing investments) for all-sized company deployments at $669 per endpoint, compared against the median of $935 across all vendors in the study.

The Nemertes research also looked at the size and complexity of the roll-out in their analysis. For installations greater than 350 endpoints, ShoreTel’s first-year overall costs are the lowest at $411 per endpoint, compared to a median of $706 across all vendors. The report also found ShoreTel systems require lower staffing levels than other vendors.
